Life of Tree is an installation of dresses, each inspired by a remarkable woman who shaped history — from Regine Beer and Trix Terwindt to Simone de Beauvoir, Alexandrine Tinne, and Harriet Tubman. These women’s courage, strength, and vision live on in every stitch. Displayed side by side, each dress tells a story. Standing beneath them, you are surrounded by music and words — odes to their spirit, dreams, and determination. In this space, they open their souls to you, urging you to live boldly, without fear or prejudice, led by the heart. More than an installation, Life of Tree is a place of reflection and remembrance — a quiet meeting point where we honor the past and keep its voices alive.

The installation can be set up both indoors and outdoors, in unusual locations.
The dresses are light sculptures, so they glow in the dark.
The dresses are mounted on a stand, but can also be hung if desired.

The artists come from Belgium

Installation time: 6 hours
Each dress can easily accommodate 5 people, each with 9 dresses. Each song and lyrics last approximately 5 minutes.
Crew: 2 technicians for assembling and disassembling the dresses

  •  GENERAL FEATURES FOR THE SOUND: The artists bring their own sound system which is attached on each dress of the installation

To be proveded by the inviting organisation: 

  • STAFF & SECURITY:
    • ​ 1 helper to build-up and secure on sight.
    • Build-up 3 hours. Installation needs to be secured during the absence of the compagnie-crew at night, during meals and break by minimum 1 volunteer/security.
  • TECHNICAL ROOM/Backstage:
    • ​ A technical room with 5 points of electricity (electrical SHUKO’S) for loading the batteries.
    • A acclimatized back-stage place for the crew with easy access to a restroom and to cold and hot drinks.
  •  MATERIAL:
    • If the dresses of the installation have to be hung (in trees), the artists need 2 big ladders. Depending height a platform (electrical ladder) can be necessary instead of the ‘normal’ ladders.
  • INSTALLATION SPOT:
    • 2 m² per dress (each dress is 2,6 meter high by 2 meter wide). The dresses can be installed separately of each other.  
       
  • 1 reserved parking space for 1 van with close access to the venue / dressing room and possibility to easily unload and load (other cars optionaly upon agreement). The organizer is responsible for the safety.

  • Catering The catering (drinks & meals) for the artists and crew members is at the expense of the organizer
  • Accommodation (if necessary)
    • When performing for more than 1 day or if the distance is too far an overnight stay is necessary
